Burnout is real. 

You feel it as to-the-bone tiredness that sleep cannot heal. You just keep exhaling, wondering when you’ll be able to breathe in again. Apathy has crept in where passion once lived. Inspiration is nowhere to be found. You give and give and give. Even the reserves are empty, there is nothing left to give. The drive that once fanned the flames of motivation has smoldered cold. How will you ever get it back again?

Stress is the perceived presence of a threat. Sometimes stress can be a good thing! It makes us sharp and focused, energetic and ready, but running hot all the time, living in a state of stress without recovery leads to burnout. However, self care has been presented as putting on the brakes. When you’re running on empty and life feels like its careening downhill, slamming on the brakes feels unsafe. And so you keep going. But what if stress management is actually more like filling up the tank than taking your foot off the gas?

Solace in the Shelter is a weekend to hunker down and be filled up. You’ve been on the front lines of this modern world that sees rest as a reward and busyness as a badge It is about rejuvenation, so you can find the refreshment to keep up and keep going. Bringing together some of the best practitioners in our area to not only fill you back up but teach you ways to take it back into the workforce to prevent the effects of burnout and the resulting stress related diseases. We are taking a multi-sensory approach to reconnecting brain to body to spirit through

Just like a wave pulls back and builds power before releasing onto the shore. Or, if you watch a time lapse of a flower blooming, it contracts before it expands, we too must retreat to advance. 


We all know what stress feels like. You cognitively know the things you “should” do to minimize its effects. But do you know what it feels like to do them? Or do you just read about them and think, “when I have time, I’ll get around to it.” How often do you actually do them? And when have you allowed yourself to be immersed in it?

This retreat provides you the time and space to experience what filling your cup feels like. That true self-care is beyond bubble baths.
